Come on, ruining you? Barely. I was simply comparing taking the time to write 10 more 80s songs to doing the same for Rodney Dangerfield.
AND, If anyone has a right to bitch about being ruined over the years it's me for fuck sake. Readers, go to Dave's Beatings page and click on Slick Triscuit - yeah hi, that's me. And enough with the leather vest thing already (funny thing I wore it last week...swear to God...still get compliments on it you fuckers).
Just get me the songs.

You'll ruin me on my own blog, eh? I fully agree that you deserve to be classified as an authority as well. I mean, you wore a leather vest every day for years, and still managed to get girls, while we were at Guelph. So you were keeping it real straight through into the early 90's.

I'll look into setting up an FTP server tonight. I have all the songs I used in a neat little folder at home.

Alright, I appreciate that you are a serious authority on 80s music – I lived with you, I remember your music knowledge, I know this is true. Being someone who has seen OMD, Duran Duran, and the Police on a number of occasions, having my wedding party introduced to Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me ‘Round”, and being on a 3 year and counting waiting list to complete my Time Life “Hits of the 80s” CD collection, I also consider myself an 80s forefather..
When I read the title of this post I almost wet myself, when I finished reading it though something was not right. I didn’t feel good. While I know it took a lot of work to widdle your list down to 10, only naming 10 songs from a decade worth of hits is impossible. It’s like trying to name your favorite story from Greek Mythology…….fine, maybe I’m the only one who has that problem but you what I mean.
Be honest, this wasn’t as completely satisfying as it should have been. Fix it. Take the time to list 10 more. You’ve wasted time writing on how many other suspect topics? Waste the time on this - the 80s deserves it.

And most importantly, I’m calling in my favour for sending you all those pics. I want a copy of those 3 CDs. I’m SERIOUS. Get them to me somehow. Host an FTP site, burn and mail them, whatever, just get them to me.

I like all of those songs. I almost put Twist and Crawl by The English Beat on my list. But your choices are too obscure for an apartment full of 25 year-old girls. This was the horrible torture of making this list - bypassing many of my personal favorites in favor of a mix that everyone could enjoy. I had to come in somewhere between Cyndi Lauper and Peter Murphy. It was tough - and I'm sure you get my drift.

Some good choices…a few additions
Orange Juice – Rip It Up (Edwyn Collins when Edwyn Collins mattered)
Prefab Sprout – Cars and Girls (Peel Session of this is the version to find)
B.A.D. – E=MC2 (Mick Jones DID matter after the Clash)
The (English) Beat – I Confess (If you're daring, go with "End of the Party" from the same record)
Pylon – Crazy (Covered by REM on Document…doesn't hold a candle to the original)
DNA and Suzanne Vega – Tom's Diner (Historically important song…the first somg I ever like made by white people that featured loops and drum machines)
Electronic - Getting Away With It (I consider this an "80's" track, though it might have been release in the 90s. Tennet, Marr, Sumner…it's like the Traveling Wilburies of Manchester, except, on balance, even worse)
