Gord
Downie and the Dinner is Ruined - Boston - July 30th, 2001
The
mike stands for the Smurf's reuinon tour were grossly overextended
by the roadies.
Gordie
hits the stage with "Canada Geese" off of Coke Machine
Glow.
Gord
keeps the audience riveted with tales from the band's trip
to Yellowknife.
"Holy
fuck, eh? ... I haven't seen this many Canadians in one room
in Cambridge since... um... never mind."
Gord
ignores Moynihan's request for "Bobcaygeon."
The
bass player looks on stunned as Gord breaks into a rant about
Don Cherry.
Sayra,
Dave and Mike groove to the G-Man at the back of TT the Bear's.
I
can't believe how close we were. It would have been impossible
to even get tickets in T.O.
I
didn't know Tiny Tim was playing the drums in The Dinner is
Ruined.
Mike
made me promise I'd tell everyone that he took this picture.
Gord,
looking eerily like Bruce Willis, belts out the opening lines
to "Yer Possessed."
After
the show we hit "The Field" for Sayra's birthday
drink. Then Mike hit the bourbon. And then the floor.
I
think at this point Mike, still buzzing from the show, was
talking about relocating to Toronto. Read his article entitled
Gord Downie and Vietnam HERE. I'm not kidding.
