Pop Culture Blog: Music, Movie and Humor

Leveraging low-hanging synergies outside the vertical fruit box since 1999.

Mark Steyn Is The Man.

As one of the only living and admittedly conservative Canadians, I feel some solace in now knowing that there is indeed at least one other. Actually, I’ve been reading his stuff for a year now via the Chicago Sun Times – but this is the first time I’ve felt a powerful urge to quote him:

“As for the most striking photograph of this disaster, it’s by AFP’s Jimin Lai. I haven’t seen it in any of the papers, oddly enough. It shows a tsunami-devastated village in Galle on the southwestern coast of Sri Lanka: a couple of rescuers are carrying away a body while, behind them, smack dab in the centre of the picture, a young man looks on. He’s wearing an Osama bin Laden T-shirt.

I gave up worrying “Why do they hate us?” on the evening of September 11, 2001. But, if I were that Osodden bin Loser guy watching the infidels truck in water, food, medical supplies and emergency clothing for villagers whose jihad-chic T-shirt collection was washed out to sea, I might ask myself a more pertinent question: “Why do they like us?”

New Year’s Eve I got in a fight with some chick regarding the USA’s lack of tsunami relief. I think the first reported number was 35 million. She went on and on about how she was ashamed of Bush, etc. I asked her where she’d gotten that figure, and when. “CNN,” she replied. “A few days ago.” I then asked her if she knew that the official death toll had since quadroupled -and that the USA had ponied up another 100 million (which has, in the last 2 weeks, risen again into the neighborhood of 375 million). She had no idea. And by then I was so utterly sick of talking to her that I abandoned any hope of a dry handjob in the SideBar‘s bathroom. That particular night, anyway.

I might ask myself a more pertinent question: “Why are my political views skewed the way they are?” But I already know the answer – In between handjobs, I read the news.

U don’t read shit dave – between all the time you download your porn, movies, music, and video games, plus work, plus drink with me – I don’t you read anything if it isn’t on imdb.com, aintitcoolnews, or rotten.com and consumption junction. Also – Handjob’s in the sidebar like taking a shit at the sidebar – isn’t that great. No stall’s and you are always trying to focus on one thing while keep the door closed with your foot. Talk about a tough game of Twister – one slip and you could have some nasty gooo all over yourself.

That is a bit bothersome so with the TShirt – I mean seriously – how would you feel if you saw someone wearing that Tshirt – makes you want to cry in rage because you just don’t understand how someone could support a person like him… Like someone burning an American Flag – I mean you have the right to do that – but some many people died fighting for what that flag is supposed to represent that it is completely disrespectfull to do it… Then I wonder that maybe I feel this from my own international ignorance. Is this person right for his choices of supporting Osama – I mean it looks like he just bought the shirt – but then you realize how can someone who can’t even read be right so I again go back to feeling sorry for him as if he is one of my semi-retarded uncles – mostly my Uncle Steve who was made to sit in the town square back in Painesville, OH with a pig under one arm and a sign in the other saying “This is a Pig Not a Cop” – long story that I plan righting about in my autobiography – which will be titled ‘This is a Pig Not A Cop… The Westernized Philosophy of Bryan Whitely’.
Then I remember the famous Chicago Sun or was it NY Sun article and Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus and I think Santa Claus would hang out with Jesus way before he would ever hang out with Muhammid or however you spell that religious prophets name. Religious Prophet – sounds like a dirty insult… I will have to use that in my next insult session. Anyway – Ole’ St. Nick delivers presents on Jesus’s b-day and you dont’ see him delivering presents on Muhammid’s so Jesus like Bush – is a representative of the Western World or should we say Western Empire. This whole bloody mess boils down to religion anyway – forget oil – so in my book anyone in bed with an Osama Bin Laden Jersey deserves to have their head on a stick. Sorry for being so blunt but you can see that I have battled this for some time – trying to come to the right decision of how I should feel and I only got three braincells working on it.
